3. Advanced 1Password Features

Sharing info/entries

Occasionally, you may want to share your passwords or information with others. For example, you might want to share a home Wi-Fi password with a guest or send your spouse a shared bank account password. It is simple to do. There are a couple of ways. So, I have my home network info here and it includes my password. I have got two options. I can either right click on the left here, go down to share and I can see my options. Or on the entry itself, you click the little share button and you have got some options here. But let us talk about these.

If you choose either email or messages, you can only share that way. If you are sharing with somebody that also uses 1Password and let us see why. If I click email you can see it includes a huge link. This is a link to add this information into somebody else's 1Password account. So, if you are trying to share this information with someone that doesn't use 1Password, this isn't going to be that useful. Let us go back to 1Password. So again, keep that in mind when you are choosing either email or messages. The last option can be useful for people who do not use 1Password and that is Print.

Let us click that to see how it looks. And basically, we are just printing off a sheet of paper that includes our Wi-Fi information. I am going to save this as a PDF, so we can get a better look at it. Let us just throw it on our desktop to make it a little easier and click save. Great. So, let us minimize 1Password to look. Let us look at that PDF. Great. And if we zoom in we can get an even better look. So, I could print this and give it to anyone that is staying at my house and they would have access to my Wi-Fi network. You always want to keep your security in mind. So, while sharing your data is a useful feature, always make sure you are sending it to a trusted source.
